Since 1608

The Old Bushmills Distillery is the world's oldest licensed Whiskey Distillery. King James 1 granted the original lisence to distill"Acqua Vatie" in April 1608. Bushmills has been making finest Irish Malt Whiskey ever since, it produces four types. "Bushmills Original", "Black Bush", "10 Year Old Malt" and the rare "16 Year Old Single Irish Malt ". The malt used to make the Whiskey is dried in "clean heat ovens" that many claim lets the full flavour of the malt and barley shine through. Many scottish companys use peat in their drying process which leaves a smokey flavour in the finished Whiskey, this can also be very popular , in fact Some Whiskey drinkers would drink nothing but the smokey flavoured brands. Distilleries in the western Scottish isle of "Islay" are good examples of those who use the peat drying process in their whiskeys. All Irish Whiskey distilleries use the "Clean heat drying" process. Drying is only a small part of of creating that final bottle of matured Whiskey, Triple Distillation in Copper Stills and ageing for many years in Oak Casks is another skilled process that goes into the making of Bushmills fine Whiskey.

"I feel sorry for people who don't drink. When they wake up in the morning, that's as good as they're going to feel all day. "
